SUPERINTENDENT / PRINCIPAL
Welcome to Two Rock! I am the Superintendent-Principal of Two Rock Union School District, and I am in my second year in the role. We have a dynamic and unique community made up of Coast Guard families, ranchers, and other local residents. I continue to enjoy getting to know the families and students here. My commitment to the community is to always put students first. My greatest personal goal for our district and school is to ensure that students are excited to come to school each day, and that they maintain a love of learning, curiosity, and a belief in their own agency that will stay with them throughout their lives.
In case you are curious about me and how I came to Two Rock, here is a little bit of my background. I attended UC Berkeley as an undergraduate, studying studio art and theatrical costume after a detour into anthropology. I worked as a commissioned artist and costume designer for independent film and theatre prior to becoming a teacher. My interest in anthropology lead me to a master's degree in Culture and Spirituality from Holy Names University. Later, I earned a master's degree in Educational Leadership from UC Berkeley's Principal Leadership Institute.
I am beginning my eleventh year in school leadership. Previously, I taught in both public and private schools, working with students in kindergarten through high school. I worked as a grant coordinator and visual arts teacher in the ArtQuest program at Santa Rosa High School for many years, coordinating arts integration programs in K-12 schools across Santa Rosa. In addition, I worked as an instructional coach and mentor teacher. I have been a school administrator in San Francisco, Petaluma, and Santa Rosa. My leadership vision is focused on equity and opportunity, with an emphasis on developing programs for English Learners, academic and social-emotional intervention systems, and student re-engagement.
The arts remain an important part of my life and a powerful avenue for students to both communicate original ideas and find individual success. While working at ArtQuest, I was a member of the Sonoma County Arts Council Arts Education Alliance and the Sonoma County Museum Visioning Committee and became very involved in our county's rich artistic culture, for which I continue to advocate. I am currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Santa Rosa Symphony, and I maintain my own art studio, although these days I am pretty busy at school! When I am not working and thinking about education, I love to cook, work on artistic projects, travel, and spend time outdoors with my family and our dogs.
